21 The Lovely Crisis: Breaking the Emotional Contract.....

I took a vow of silence as a child. I was not explicitly instructed to do so. I was not to challenge, complain, notice or denounce the lifestyle surrounding all of the adults in and around my family. This vow also included a commitment to a code of silent observation and similar conduct, upon which, in strict adherence to this contract, would result in my initiation into the system.  My acceptance of the contract (and vows associated with the agreement) was necessary if I were to receive the sustenance necessary to thrive within this environment. Amendments to this arrangement occurred as necessary throughout my growth and development.  Performance became an integral part of the understanding. This included the ability to entertain, soothe, seduce, submit, dominate, and ignore.
That's it for now. Too heavy too late. Unfinished......
